Friday evening on February 12, 2010 was a magical and special night in Ottawa.  The Special Events and Youth Committee of the Ottawa Chapter (Branch 63) of the Canadian Slovak League delivered a fantastic Fašiangy “Mardi Gras” Dinner and Dance to the Ottawa Slovak Community and their friends.

Archbishop Prendergast of Ottawa reveals ties with Slovak community

 His Grace Terence Prendergast, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ottawa, was the first clergyman of his high rank ever to officiate at a Slovak Mass in Ottawa. He gladly accepted the invitation of Ottawa parish priest Father Radoslav Lojan to celebrate Mass, which was both in English, Latin, and in Slovak.

Music, dancing, fine food and fine wine – what better way to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Slovakia’s independence? The Ottawa branch of the Canadian Slovak League, with the generous cooperation of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, co-sponsored just such a joyful event as 2007 came to an end and 2008 began.
