Archbishop Sokol celebrates 80th birthday in Sarnia

Sokol 200On Sunday, September 22nd, Slovaks in Sarnia, Ontario celebrated the annual Feast Day held in honor of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary, Patron Saint of Slovakia.

The main celebrant at the Slovak mass in this beautiful city on Lake Huron was His Excellency Archbishop Ján Sokol, Bishop Emeritus of Trnava, Slovakia. In the presence of local Slovaks after the procession he celebrated Mass with father Juraj Kadlec (former well known fsoccer player from Trnava) and Slovak parish administrator in Michigan, Rev. Ben Kostnáč.

After mass, everyone present moved to the cultural hall where our Slovak ladies us prepared for everyone a great Slovak lunch and terrific cakes. On this occasion our guest (maybe future Blessed) Archbishop Sokol celebrated his 80th birthday. Slovaks from Sarnia prepared for him a nice round anniversary celebration. And everyone enjoyed a piece of cake.

We wish our Archbishop much God's love and blessings and thank him for always remembering the Slovaks in Canada.
