Odpust_200Annual Feast day at the Catholic Cathedral of The Mother of God (Byzantine rite) was a wonderful celebration this September in one of the oldest Slovak parishes in Canada.

We publish not only photos from the formal lunch and cultural program, but we started in the kitchen for you to see how the majority of Slovak events in Canada are made to happen. The greatest effort rests on the shoulders of volunteers who prepare everything, they cook, bake, arrange the decorations, call people to remind them to come, and after the celebrations they wash and clean everything. Of course, they do it all for free, just for the love of their parish and the Slovak community. No wonder that their faces have such a beautiful and natural smile.

Thanks to all the volunteers without whom the Slovak community in Canada would long ago cease to exist.
