Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic honored the weekly Kanadský Slovák / The Canadian Slovak with a prestigious Gold Medal at the 70th anniversary of uninterrupted publication of our newspaper. We are honored that our work is recognized in Slovakia, and this award belongs to all who contributed to the publishing of The Canadian Slovak, often under very difficult conditions and most working hard without any financial reward. Thanks to all who worked in the newsroom, administration, and of course Big Thanks to our content contributors, subscribers, advertisers and supporters. This medal belongs to you.
The Medal ceremony was presided by H.E. Milan Kollár, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Canada on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the opening of the exhibition Joseph Cincík - The Renaissance Man in the Slovak Hall of CSL Branch 7.
