On January 1 each year, members of the Branch 65 of the Canadian Slovak League come to raise the Slovak flag at the Calgary City Hall. This traditional ceremony takes place at sunrise. Paľo Beňovský and Paľo Šiška has been organizing since the independence of the Slovak Republic, including on January 1, 2010.
