On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Slovak League, I wish to congratulate the Slovak Canadian National Council (SCNC) on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. The SCNC is the unifying central voice of its member Slovak organizations, institutions, groups and individuals.
A luncheon to celebrate this significant milestone was held on Sunday, August 29, 2010 in the Parish Hall of Sts Cyril and Methodius Slovak Roman Catholic Church in Mississauga. We were honoured with the presence of His Excellency Milan Kollár, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic and his family. The Honourable Ted Chudleigh, MPP Halton brought greetings from Tim Hudak, MPP and Leader of the Official Opposition in the Ontario Legislature. His Grace John Pazak, Reverend Ronald Comeau, Michal Martincek, Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic and Larry Glogush, National President of the Slovak Catholic Sokol were among the special guests. Performances were given by the Vychodna Slovak Dancers and the Slovak Catholic Sokol Girls Drill Team. A social followed the official programme with music by Miro Letko.
It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements of the SCNC over the past 25 years, and to show our support for this valuable organization as it continues to fulfill its mandate on behalf of Slovaks in Canada.
