Many young singing adepts entered the competition, mostly from among the children of immigrants from Slovakia, and the Jury, consisting from experts in singing, theatre and folk arts selected finalists in two categories, from 4 to 9 years and from 10 to 16 years of age.
The finals took place on Sunday, October 17 in Toronto, in the presence of His Excellency, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Milan Kollar. The finalists in both categories warmed the hearths of audience with their youthful enthusiasm and approach. The winners were all who competed, but the trophies were presented to the following singers:
Category 1 – children from 4 to 9 years old:
Golden Canadian Nightingale: EMILY TIMDALE
Silver Canadian Nightingale: LUCAS TIMDALE
Bronze Canadian Nightingale: IZABELA ZUBEK
Category 2 – children from 10 to 16 years old:
Golden Canadian Nightingale: MIRIAM BRAZINA
Silver Canadian Nightingale: DANIELA PASTOR
Bronze Canadian Nightingale: PETER BRAZINA
The succesful event confirmed this new tradition and we are all looking forward to the next competition, which will be held in the autumn of 2011.
