It appears that Slovaks are always blessed. On July 15th, there were storms and floods in and around Toronto, and in the nearby town of Whitby lightning struck a tent under which another organization held their picnic.
Only in the district of Milton, where the Slovaks celebrated their 74th Slovak Day was a beautiful and sunny day. Just pleasant. Perhaps because the picnic started traditionally with a Holy Mass, the Heavens gave us their smile.
As many of our readers were there, it is unnecessary to describe the great atmosphere, good fun, varied program, and delicious meals and drinks. The 1st District Assembly of the Canadian Slovak League that organized the event did a great work.
One group that deserves to be singled out and extended a special "THANK-YOU!" is the small army of volunteers who prepared everything prior to the event and worked tirelessly in the sweltering heat on the day of the event. Their dedication and good humour are greatly appreciated and Slovak Day would not be a possibility without their help.
Let the photos do the talking.
