President Gustav Murin was happy to present Ambassador Milan Kollar with one of the books brought to Canada by the
group to promote closer Slovak cultural connections.
The executives of the Slovak PEN Club, an international Writers' association, dropped in to Ottawa with samples of Slovakia's literature and film work. The Slovak literary giants were happy to take questions from an interested audience at the Ottawa Embassy.
Members of the audience checked out some of the current Slovak literature for adults and for children which most of us in Canada have not been learning about on our markets.
Film My Father Gulag, available on DVD, is all about the search of his own identity of a Slovak, born in the Soviet Union. His parents were amont the 40-thousand seized in Slovakia and deported to the Gulags by the Soviet Army and NKVD after World War Two.
The representatives of the Slovak PEN club also visited Toronto.
