We are proud to announce that our 3rd Annual Mardi Gras “Fašiangy” Dinner and Dance which took place on Friday, February 17th was a huge success. Just ask the 250 or so attendees and they would agree that the food was incredible and the music was great. With a spectacular dinner menu of cabbage rolls, pork loin, potato dumplings and traditional Slovak cookies…the feedback was very positive. The Zlaty Bazant beer was a big hit as well as the traditional Slivovica. Our ever-popular band “Tempo” kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night.
Our momentum is building and this is bringing our Ottawa Slovak Community closer together. We look forward to future events where we can celebrate our Slovak traditions. Celebrating with us was the Slovak Ambassador Milan Kollar and his wife Sona, as well as the Czech Ambassador Karel Zebrakovsky and his wife Marketa. We are pleased that our younger Slovak generation comes out to support the dances as the future of our Ottawa Slovak community is in their hands.
Special thanks to our committee for all of their hard work on this event. Also, a very big thanks to our sponsors who provide the gifts for our door and raffle prizes.
Before the night was over, people were already asking when our next event would be. Set your calendars for Saturday, October 6th for our 3rd Annual Oktoberfest “Dozinky” Dinner and Dance.
Have a great Easter and we’ll see you in October!
